We all make mistakes: Whether we have hurt a friend with our behavior or with our comments or we have lied our parents or our teachers, making up all sort of stupid excuses to justify our actions. It really doesn't matter whether we talk about "innocent" little lies, they do count and they hurt the persons when they find out about them.
But only a few attempt to seek forgiveness.
When we think of doing something we should always put ourselves in the other’s shoes and see how he feels or how he thinks and then draw the conclusions.

Yes, i agree forgiveness is not easy, it is often more 'comforting' to sit with feelings of resentment and a need for retribution, but where does that get us? In the end this hurts us more. It often seems less frightening to hold onto what we know than to jump into the unknown and let go.....and we end up missing out on life.
And almost it takes time to heal the wounds and healing takes longer if the wounds are lodged so deep into the recesses of one’s heart. Learning to accept the situation may be the first step to learning how to forgive. But learning to accept the situation may require space. It needs a sort of diversion while the healing is taking place. Meanwhile, the aggrieved person may try to tear himself away from the very thing that causes his pain and become ignorant. Hopefully, he will begin to see that he is not the only person hurt and that there are basically a more people with worse problems than he has.
So do we forgive for others or for ourselves? Forgiving someone else openly may help them in the process of self-forgiveness but that is really up to them. The effect forgiveness has on us when we can completely let go is profound. It can make us happier, remove stress, physical pain and strain, and even open our lives up to new opportunities and more abundance. We are in effect completely letting go of a past event and allowing ourselves to move on.
To err is human,
to forgive is divine
